How Close To God Do You Want To Be?
July 18, 2022 2:59 pmYou can choose just how close you want to get to God. The key is understanding just how much He loves you. You have nothing to fear, so you might as well come higher into His presence. How close to God do you want to be?
Our guest contributor, GiGi Snelson, shares how you can overcome fears and draw closer to the loving arms of your Heavenly Father.
WILL YOU COME UP HIGHER?
Have you ever been on a flight in the middle of the rain? It can be unpleasant and depending on the severity of the rain, it can get pretty bumpy in the air, as the pilot navigates the plane through the storm.
The passengers depending on their level of experience in such circumstances will all experience different types of emotions. Some will sleep through it and not be fazed one bit. Others will experience slight discomfort, and some will literally shake in fear and experience great anxiety.
I know this full well, as I’ve pretty much gone through every single one of these emotions while on a flight, and in life! Can you relate? If so, this is for you!
What the Lord taught me during a season where the spirit of fear tried to paralyze me and to keep me from flying, was something He is now wanting me to share with you, His beloved.
The Lord taught me that, the Pilot is always in control. He knows how to get us through the storm and above it. Above the storm, the sun never stops shining. The sun never changes.
In this season, the Lord is calling the body of Christ to Come Higher! Isaiah 55:9 exhorts us; “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
DIVINE ALIGNMENT
The Lord is calling us into divine alignment with His word and His will. Restlessness comes from a lack of revelation of the heart of God in a situation.
It shows up in the soul (mind, will, and emotions) when we experience spiritual warfare or simply face different cares of this world. It can be very easy to drift away from the voice of our shepherd Jesus Christ and to take our eyes away from Him and onto the circumstances around us if we aren’t intentionally clinging to Him.
Even when it may seem like the storms of life are too overwhelming to navigate, the Lord is reminding us, to Come Higher! There is a great assurance and comfort in knowing that He never changes.
Psalm 131:2 highlights a key to aligning our hearts to the heart of God so that we aren’t swept away with the cares of this world, but rather, walk in victory in all circumstances. This verse reads “Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me.”
There is a state of resting in His faithfulness that the Holy Spirit deeply desires for us to walk in daily. It is a place of intimacy with the Lord in our daily walk. His word and fellowship with Him are our daily sustenance.
THE SECRET OF LIVING
It is the Lord’s deep desire for us to lack no good thing and wants us to be unmoved, such as the example of the apostle Paul who stated in Philippians 4:12-13, “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
It is indeed, all about Him, our source of hope, strength, wisdom, favor, and grace. The Lord is reminding us, His body, that He is a good God. He is a Faithful and Compassionate father.
There is a place of rest in God that can only be experienced as we draw closer and allow Him to minister strength and clarity to us. His word is saturated with reminders of His character and His faithfulness to us who place our trust in Him. Psalm 25:3 reminds us “No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced.” There are BOLD promises in His word towards us who love Him.
Because nothing moves the heart of God as Faith does, He reminds us of the choice we have in whether we prophesy death or life in our circumstances.
YOU ARE INVITED
I invite you, beloved of God, to spend some time meditating on Ezekiel 37. The prophet faces a great challenge, to speak of the very real and harsh reality before him, or to tune his heart and his imagination with the vision that the Lord was placing in his heart.
When he aligned his mind with God’s mind and prophesied what looked dead in the natural, a great miracle occurred! This is the kind of new thing the Lord is doing in this season for all who will believe Him!
The Lord’s invitation to you today is, Will you come Higher? Will you partner with Him by prophesying what He desires for your life, the ministry and career He has given you, your family, and this Nation?
I promise you will be tremendously glad you did! His word never fails!
