Why You Need To Read The Bible
November 5, 2019 9:37 pmIf there was one thing you need to do each day it’s read your Bible. Why is it so important that you read this one book? It’s because it’s your “Life Manual”. Today, you’ll discover why you need to read the Bible.
Did you know when you came out of your mother’s womb, that God already had a book ready for you to read? It came with instructions on how to live here on the Earth.
Here are 5 reasons why you need to read your Bible.
1. The Bible is the Truth
Jesus tells us in John 17:17, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” Imagine reading a book that is filled with the Truth. Every time you read your Bible you are digesting the Truth.
One of the most liberating verses you’ll ever read is found in John 8:32 when Jesus said, ” And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The more you read the Scriptures and know them, the freer you’ll become.
If you had a choice, wouldn’t you rather read a book filled with the Truth instead of lies and deception?
2. The Bible is Alive
Did you know the Bible is full of life? In Proverbs 4:20-22 in The Passion Translation, it tells you,
” Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything that I teach you,
and pay attention to all that I have to say. Fill your thoughts with my words
until they penetrate deep into your spirit. Then, as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being.”
Every single time you read the Holy Scriptures, you are receiving true life and radiant health. If you need a healing or a miracle, why not read Healing Verses out loud?
3. The Bible is Powerful
Did you ever hear the phrase, “What you say is what you get?” God says it in a more powerful way. Proverbs 18:21 says, ” What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.”
God has given you the free will to say whatever you want. He has also given you the most powerful book ever written. When you chose to speak forth God’s Scriptures, power is released into your life.
Do you know what God does when you speak forth His Word?
“The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly because I am watching to make sure my words come true.” Jeremiah 1:12
Now that you know that God is making sure His Word comes to pass in your life, why would you not declare His Truth?
4. The Bible is Life Transforming
Have you ever read a book that changed your life? The Bible is the only book you’ll ever read that will transform you from the inside out. How do the Scriptures transform you?
In Romans 12:2, Paul tells us, ” Also, do not continue to conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you test and approve what is the will of God—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.”
Your life will be transformed by renewing your mind by meditating on the Scriptures. Joshua 1:8 tells us the benefits of meditating on the Truth,
“This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.”
Did you notice in that verse God’s way of prospering and succeeding?
5. The Bible is a Love Letter
The more you study the Bible, the more you will understand God’s love for you. He wrote this book for you so you can accept His unconditional love. The good news is His love is a gift. You don’t earn a gift, you receive it.
If you are not really sure what love is, check out what Paul reveals to us in the Message version.
(You’ll get more out of this passage when you READ THIS OUT LOUD)
“Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
How could you not see God’s love in this passage?
Now you know why you need to read the Bible every day.
