How To Be Free From Fears

How would your life be different if you overcome fears? Today can be the start of living a life free from fears. First of all, you must believe it’s possible to overcome fears. Second, you’ll need to admit you cannot do it on your own. Finally, fears are going to be replaced with God’s perfect love. How?

The apostle John tells us in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

ANTIDOTE FOR FEAR

The antidote for fear is God’s perfect love.

Imagine fears leaving your life and what remains is love. 

What would you do if you were not afraid to do what God has called you to do?

For me, I would boldly preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I really would and I will because God has ALREADY cast out so much fear in my life. 

When I was in elementary school, I was so afraid to ask questions. Unfortunately, that led me to fall way behind in school and I was put in remedial classes. For some reason, when I went to college, I was confidently asking questions. Fear had been removed. 

The more you GET TO know and believe God’s love for you, the freer you become from the fears. 

WHAT IS A FEAR?

When you really dissect a fear, you will discover its a lie. 

What is the purpose of the lie? It tries to cover up the Truth. Selah. I really want you to ponder that for a moment. The Truth comes from God, but lies come from the devil.

The enemy’s plan is for you to NOT know or believe the Truth of God’s love for you. Why? Because His perfect love casts out fear. So if the enemy can convince you that God does not love YOU, then how can you really trust in God?

In Proverbs 3:5 it tells you to, “Trust in the Lord will all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” Would you really trust in someone you don’t know?

The devil does not want you to trust in the Lord with ALL your heart. When you know God, you’ll know His love He has just for you.

OVERCOMING FEARS

So how do you take the first step in overcoming fears?

This may surprise you.

Ask God what you are afraid of. When you ask Him this, you are really wanting to know what the enemy wants you to believe. In Christ Jesus, you do NOT fear. So these fears do NOT belong to you or God. All these lies and fears belong to the devil.

It’s time to bring these lying fears to the light. You are not giving the devil power when you admit them to God because they don’t belong to you. God knows the lies and the fears you will be set free from with His Truth and Love for you.

You’ll be amazed at how freeing this will be for you. If you don’t do this, then you are choosing to keep them in the dark. God wants you to bring them to light. Why?

Because then He can reveal to you what TRUTHS the enemy is trying to cover up with those lying fears. For example, the enemy wants you to believe you won’t feel comfortable speaking in front of people. So, he wants you to feel afraid and then you don’t do it. 

WHAT’S THE COVERUP?

What is the Truth he is trying to cover up? 

The Truth is God created you to speak the Truth in love. You were made to talk with people no matter how many are in the group. 

Who is the one that is really afraid of you sharing the Truth in love? It’s the devil and it’s HIS fear, not yours.
