How to Journal with God
August 3, 2023 1:07 pmIn life, we often find ourselves seeking guidance, clarity, and a deeper connection with the divine. The key for me to hearing God’s voice clearly and embarking on an intimate spiritual journey has been journaling. I’m going to share my experience with journaling, and the promises God made to him through it. This practice can help us all forge a closer relationship with the divine and know how to journal with God.
The Power of Journaling
My life took a momentous turn in 2010 when I received a prophetic word from Eileen Fisher in Colorado Springs. At that time, I struggled with fear, hindering my ability to connect with God’s voice. The word I received was simple yet profound: “Journal, journal, journal, journal.” This divine directive led me to two life-changing promises from God. The first is the ability to recognize God’s voice more clearly. The second is filling my journal with Scripture.
Transformative Journey
With a commitment to journaling, I embarked on a journey that spanned thousands of pages. Initially, my journaling was akin to a diary, a way to share experiences and emotions. However, as I persisted, I discovered a transformational process that deepened my relationship with God. This allowed me to recognize His still small, voice inside my heart.
Benefits of Journaling
- Hearing God’s Voice: My primary motivation for sharing my journaling experiences with others is to help them learn how to hear God’s voice more clearly. By journaling, one can discern and interpret divine messages, leading to profound spiritual growth.
- Direction and Clarity: I received abundant guidance through journaling. As a result, I started creating videos, social media posts, and blog content and even relocating to Texas. Journaling played a pivotal role in my decision-making process.
- Creating Coaching Programs: Jeffrey’s journaling journey led to the development of two coaching programs for A Transforming Word Ministries. One is helping others hear God’s voice for themselves and others. These programs serve as a testament to the power of journaling in personal and spiritual development.
Biblical Support for Journaling
For those who question the scriptural foundation of journaling, Jeffrey points to Jeremiah 30:2. God instructs the prophet to “Write in a book all the words which I have spoken to you.” This biblical passage reinforces the idea that journaling can be a sacred practice to record divine messages.
Getting Started with Journaling
For those new to journaling, here is practical advice to start this spiritual discipline:
- Choose Your Medium: For example, decide whether to journal on paper or use a computer. My preference is typing on a computer due to the speed at which God speaks to me.
- Invest Time: Make a commitment to journal regularly, ideally three to five times a week. Ideally, I set aside journaling days for extended periods of divine communion.
- Don’t Overanalyze: In the beginning, type out what you hear without doubting its authenticity. With time and practice, you’ll become more adept at recognizing God’s voice.
- Ask Questions: Engage in a dialogue with God through your journal. Seek direction and answers to your queries, enhancing your intimacy with the divine.
Embracing God’s Scariest Assignment
In my journey with God, I faced a moment of trepidation when God asked me to go LIVE online and journal with Him. (WATCH HERE) Unsure of what might unfold, I initially, but eventually embraced the divine assignment. Through this act of vulnerability, I demonstrated a profound level of trust in God and a willingness to share his spiritual experiences with others.
Conclusion
My journey with journaling serves as a testament to the power of this spiritual discipline in deepening our connection with God. By investing time in journaling and embracing divine assignments with courage, we can all unlock the ability to hear God’s voice more clearly, experience greater direction in life, and develop a closer and more intimate relationship with the divine. If you’ve ever felt the desire to draw nearer to God, perhaps journaling can be the transformative practice you’ve been seeking.
